  • Service Tip: Self Cleaning Ovens

Fall is here and as soon as it gets cold and cloudy we all want to make something warm and toasty in our ovens that haven't been used for many months. This is usually a good time to run a self cleaning cycle. Remember to remove your oven racks before you run this cycle. The high temperatures can ruin the oven racks and these are very expensive to replace. You also don't want to run the self cleaning cycle right before a big cooking event like Thanksgiving or when you are having a dinner party. We often see service issues with ovens after this cycle is used. Sometimes this causes problems with the door lock or the control panel. It is a good idea to crack a window and stay home for the 3 hours while this cycle is on. When they cycle is done and for some reason the door doesn't unlock after the oven has cooled turn the circuit breaker to the oven off for a few minutes then turn it back on. This sometimes resolves the issue. If not call us for a service call.
